Decatur, Alabama, Design Review Guidelines Update

Decatur is located on the Tennessee River and has notable commercial and residential architecture dating to the late 19th and early 20th centuries. We have worked in the city on a number of National Register nominations and prepared their first set of design guidelines in 1990. In association with The Walker Collaborative, we are preparing a new design guideline manual which will expand on the original guidelines and later revisions. This manual is primarily for the city’s residential historic districts and will reassess and rewrite the current guidelines in coordination with City staff and the Historic Preservation Commission.
